About this Position

SeeScan is looking for an experienced Business Development Specialist to join our DeepSea Power & Light oceanographic products team. Our ideal candidate has experience in multiple facets of business development and understands how to gather and use information to guide good decision making, strategy, and set operational priorities.

Your Mission

In this position, your mission will be to gather, synthesize, and act on data relating to market position, the competitive landscape, opportunities, and feedback from our international sales network. You will oversee the formulation of a formal business development strategy, set marketing priorities, and help inform the product development path for our oceanographic products in order to expand the reach and scope of our brand. Our ideal candidate is also a self-motivated, open-minded, and natural learner who can manage their own time while teaming effectively with a diverse group of professionals. Our products leverage cutting edge technology developed by our in-house Engineering resources, so you must be eager and open to learning new and potentially unfamiliar technology.

Responsibilities

  • Manage regular and formal data gathering from our international representatives and key customers
  • Build and maintain connections with a network of thought leaders in our industries
  • Develop a deep understanding of the products, technologies, and key capabilities of our oceanographic products group
  • Research opportunities both inside and outside of our key markets
  • Synthesize research data into actionable insights to feed back into our operations
  • Formulate and maintain a formal business development plan with key specific goals and performance indicators
  • Set marketing priorities and contribute to ongoing projects

Qualifications

  • Clear and effective communication style
  • Proven capacity to understand and communicate technical concepts
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to effectively manage time and resources, and to implement change
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate through written and spoken English
  • Able to function in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Must be comfortable with technology, especially productivity tools like MS Office, Word, Excel

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in sales, marketing, or a related field
